Public using drugs and cosmetics should be aware of the circulation of drugs and counterfeit cosmetics. Because the chemical constituents present in these products is very harmful for health.

Chairman of the Indonesian Society Antipemalsuan (MIAP) Widyaretna Buenastuti said, people often do not know the differences in medicines and cosmetics, fake it. Even more alarming, they do not know the chemical content in counterfeit medicines and cosmetics that are hazardous materials.

Based on a survey carried MIAP, found that the cosmetics industry topped counterfeiting activities of 12 types of industries that are vulnerable forgery.

"The impact of losses due to fraud it should be borne by various parties, including intellectual property owners, communities, and countries," said Widyaretna at the University of Atma Jaya, Jakarta, Tuesday (09/28/2010).

According to him, efforts are undertaken to prevent fraud is to awaken the public to beware of the existence of counterfeit cosmetics. The implementation was done MIAP activity in cooperation with the Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI).

"We always perform routine activities, which invites consumers more aware of their rights and responsibilities as consumers," he said.

In an effort to combat counterfeiting, said members of the YLKI, Tulus Abadi, they collaborate with manufacturers of products circulating in the community.

"In order to prioritize everything and truly protect the interests of consumers," he said.

Head of Regulation and Legislation Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) Budi Djanu Purwanta states, law enforcement against counterfeiting should always be done.
